Chinese artificial board industry can produce 100 million cubic meters of boards annually and the volume of production is still increasing. It is estimated that the output will reach 170 million cubic meters per year in 2015. If 50% (85 million cubic meters) of these boards were made of straw, it would consume 102 million tons of straws every year which would account for 15% or so of the whole year production contributing to a reduction of 255 million cubic meters of deforesting. It will be of great help to the lack of wood supply in our country.
According to statistics in epidemiology, there are forty thousand more leukemia patients in our country annually, 50% of which are children mostly among 2-9 years. Formaldehyde released from decoration and furniture is deemed to be the main cause of the increase of leukemia patients.
Adhesives made up of formaldehyde are needed in producing all traditional artificial boards. Every time a standard sized (1220mm*2440mm*18mm) traditional artificial board is produced, about 4 kilos of formaldehyde are used as raw material in making necessary adhesives.

The MDI used in Wanhua Eco-board is a strawbinding-oriented eco-friendly adhesive which is developed by Wanhua R& D center. At normal temperature, it is in liquid state with its color ranging from brown to dark brown. The polymeric MDI based adhesive improves the molecule structure of polymeric MDI as well as its compatibility with straw fiber.
